At morning assembly Mz Van d'Yer calls out three pupils names, each coming out to the front. She then asks each one to step forward whilst she reads out a list of misdemeanours for each one, starting with Terry Jenkins who receives the cane for truancy, closely followed by Susie Jennings who receives the plimsoll for fighting and lastly John Lloyd who receives the strap for disruptive behaviour again.
