Helen Smart moves on to university, thinking that she has left the swish of the cane behind her. She is shocked when her tutor makes it very clear that her work is not good enough, and that unless she accepts a caning she will be sent down. So yet again she is bent over, awaiting the swish of the cane as a prelude to yet more stripes across her caneable bottom. (SP80)
