Rural France 1429; The Abbot discovers that Anna, one of his maids, is a great supporter of Joan of Arc. He will not tolerate sedition in his ranks and, in some anger, sends for Anna. He makes the girl strip, bend over, ready for a good thrashing. Her bottom suffers the martinet and the paddle, making her bottom glow red, but her spirit remains defiant as ever.
