Steve gets 24 strokes of the cane in slow motion, the sound stays in the correct pitch even though its also in slow motion, so you can hear the soundtrack except every sound is elongated to stay in sync with the slow motion picture. The gaps between strokes have been shortened in order to concentrate on the actual cane strokes.
