I guess the cartoons were right: pepper does make you sneeze! I have a bunch of black pepper on the palm of my hand; I inhale a little bit of it and almost instantly, I start sneezing like crazy. I can't stop. My nose itches, my throat tingles... I need some tissues to blow my nose with! Real sneezing.
