Hidden from view reporter Ralph Axe surveils a 1920s-era rooming house. For half the night he has expected superheroine Virtue to stride outside through its lobby doors. Nearby residents, even those not usually superstitious, have begun predicting Virtue's demise. Ralph glances back at his notes.
