She puts her lips to the tuba mouthpiece at the other end of the hose, quickly fills it to its normal size, but then finds it very difficult to expand it further. She takes deep breaths, puffs out her cheeks, curls her toes, and pushes with all her might, but to no avail. So she sets up the high pressure foot pump, in addition to her blowing tube, and proceeds to get the inflation under way. Every so often she puts a few solid breaths into it by mouth. After some vigorous pumping with her toes, she finally is able to expand it by lung power. She continues to give it everything she has, bulging her cheeks to the limit, and supplementing her blowing as needed with leg power. Finally, her efforts pay off!
