When Ama joined the company, she read and signed the behavioral compliance policy that stated that “upon performance or behavioral failure, each employee must choose between being flogged, being tickled or being docked one month’s pay”. She signed that, because she just knew that she’d never fail at her job. And just 3 months later, she found herself having to choose from the devil’s menu of the ‘three horribles’. What made it even worse was that she knew that she couldn’t afford to choose the one month’s pay option and that the behavioral compliance session would be both recorded and kept in her service record as leverage, to be publicized should she fail again.

After agonizing consideration, she submitted her choice of being tickled. But, she had a devious plan to lessen her torment. She had leaned over time that the man administering the compliance torment (Mr. Darke) was particularly twisted and got off the more his subjects reacted and freaked out. So, her plan was simple - be stoic and deprive him of pleasure and wither his desire to tickle her. After all, she’s grown now and can control her reactions.

When the day finally arrived for her behavioral compliance session with Mr. Darke, during the intake process, she answered his questions calmly, stoically and focused on showing him no nervousness and no emotion.
