Having a fuel gauge that does not read properly, and a car that never wants to start can be frustrating and unnerving at the same time. My old car is frustrating me as I try to get it started. Cranking the engine while pumping the pedal, begging and pleading, wishing it would start, I am trying to gently it to start while my foot is not so gentle. After finally getting it to start, I leave home (having to stay on the gas pedal to keep it going), and am heading to town. It keeps wanting to stall and as I pull out from a stop sign, I get 20 feet into the highway when it stalls and runs out of gas. Luckily my cameraman/hubby always rides in the back for emergencies like this. He jumps out and puts gas in it quickly and I begin cranking and pumping, trying to prime the carburetor and getting it to start up again. After I finally get it started, I am off and going again. This was really scary because I had no place to pull over, and had to get it started in the middle of the road. Brake failure fans will also notice that the brakes are getting worse as I am having to pump them to get stopped. This is one view of this clip with picture in picture.
