The film opens with Marlowe talking a walk down a nature trail on a sunny day. She encounters a suspiciously dark stretch of path ahead. Marlowe briefly considers turning back, but decides to journey into the shadowy woods. As she walks down the path over a large storm drain, she hears a strange sound emanating from below. Again, she pauses, but decides to step off the trail and investigate the sound. Once she's into the dry creek bed, she sees The Plant's snout sticking out of the storm drain and she recoils in horror. The Plant is quick, however, and uses a stick to yank her by the waist ...
