The penultimate match of the MWC September 2017 event saw Leila take on the formidable Gabi.
class="kix-line-break" /> It’s fair to say Leila wasn’t being handed an easy ride with the Brazilian beauty not long having finished a physically gruelling match against Kat.
class="kix-line-break" /> Gabi had waited a long longer for her second contest of the event and she came out looking as if she was chomping at the bit to get stuck in!
class="kix-line-break" /> However, one thing we’ve already learned about Leila is she is a game girl and she certainly looked up for the challenge of facing the tough BJJ expert.
class="kix-line-break" /> But being up for a challenge and meeting it head on are two different things and Gabi came out and took immediate control, quickly earning the first submission of the match with a painful ankle lock.
class="kix-line-break" /> Gabi continued to attack and there seemed to be a danger that Leila might get overwhelmed by the onslaught. But she showed her mettle and resisted the attacks and even tried to fight back by catching Gabi in a body scissor.
class="kix-line-break" /> Gabi however has a defence almost as strong as her offence and eventually she turned the tables back on her opponent to get another submission with a head lock. She underlined her domination after with an arm bar which, despite Leila’s smiles and good spirits, must have been excruciating!
class="kix-line-break" /> It was turning into a one-sided match with Gabi in full control - Leila summing it up early in round two by declaring, “She’s hard work!”
class="kix-line-break" /> But, despite all this, Leila’s spirit never dropped - her laughs and beaming smile lit up the area - and she kept on trying and giving it all she had.
class="kix-line-break" /> Gabi too was enjoying herself, playing up to the camera throughout and going through her full repertoire on Leila.
class="kix-line-break" /> Leila persevered though and was finally rewarded in the final round - earning a hard fought tap out from Gabi with a perfect headlock - prompting the biggest cheer of the match and a huge celebration from Leila herself!
class="kix-line-break" /> This one is a must for those who enjoy domination matches but also an example of exactly what spirit event matches should be wrestled in!
