Wounded American journalist Steve Martin is taken from the ruins of Tokyo to a hospital full of citizens. A recent acquaintance, Emiko, finds out by chance. Martin recalls in a flashback a stop in Tokyo, where a series of unexplained offshore naval incidents draw his attention. When one of those victims ends up on the island of Odo, Martin flies there for the story, along with security officer Tomo Iwanaga.
