I greet the patient ahead of their induction. One of the surgical nurses let me know that she was nervous, so I thought I'd offer some reassurance. From their POV - I'm sweet, and caring, and just trying to put them at ease.

Once I've scrubbed in I return and explain how the mask will fit over her mouth and nose before strapping it on. **The POV changes** and I am looking down on her. She's visibly frightened but I am able to assure her that I am here, and that everything will be ok. Once calmed she begins to count backwards and her eyelids begin to flutter. For a long moment I just watch.

Cut to an intubation, distorted and strange. It's from the patient's perspective... Something the anesthesia's amnesia effect will ensure she won't remember.

Before surgery gets underway I steal another minute, gazing at her, her face covered in tape, leads on her chest... While I listen to the heart monitor, I can't help but look over her chest.

Awake. Hands feeling at the mask on her face. She tries to pull at it but I tell her to leave it be. She looks up and sees me. Looking down at her tenderly. I tell her everything went well, and that she did great. She nods sleepily. I give her a soft kiss on the forehead and tell her to get some rest.

** PLEASE NOTE : In this video both the patient and anesthetist are portrayed by me - Leela Lapin. It's a bit artsier than previous videos, and I'm a bit sweeter than usual, but I hope you'll enjoy ;) Also - The chroma key effect in this video isn't as crisp as in some of my videos.
