The doctor retrieves a tongue scraper from their tools and asks Lalo to use it. Lalo follows the instructions. He is soon left with a pool of spit on his lap, but despite his efforts, the unpleasant odor persists.

The doctor examines the tongue scraper and frowns. "The smell seems concentrated here," they mutter, more to themselves than to Lalo. With curiosity piqued, the doctor decides further tests are needed.

They ask Lalo to recline on the exam table, adjusting the overhead light. Picking up a tongue depressor, they say, "Say ah." They press down on Lalo’s tongue, examining his gums, throat, uvula, tonsils, and tongue for any signs of infection or abnormalities. Lalo winces slightly as his gag reflex kicks in, causing him some discomfort.

Pulling on a pair of gloves, they continue their examination. Using their fingers, they palpate the inner surfaces of Lalo’s mouth, searching for additional clues.

Still, the exact source of the odor remains elusive. Determined to solve the issue, the doctor leans in closer. "Let me try something else," they say, bringing a q-tip closer to Lalo’s wet membranes, in order to run some further tests on the bacteria growing in Lalo’s mouth in the lab.

Lalo shifts uneasily but ultimately decides to remain patient. Although the methods feel a bit unconventional, he resolves to wait for the results of further examinations, hoping they will finally provide answers to his persistent issue.
