Rita is in the OR for routine breast surgery. The medical team preps her. They hook her up to the heart monitor, place the BP cuff onto her arm and place a green bouffant cap on her head. They put on a black rubber mask and she breathes deeply and counts backwards before completely then relaxing. She is intubated and than hooked up to the respirator. The med team affixes the tube with tape and tapes her eyes too. Then they sterilize her chest and cover her to ready her for surgery. Suddenly, the patient’s heart flat lines. The med team starts CPR immediately and the defibrillator is charged...

The med team starts CPR immediately and the defibrillator is charged but there is no response following the round. The patient's body muscle have been relaxed as part of the procedure. Her reaction to the defibs are small and weak. They need many more cycles of resus until the patient’s pulse returns to normal. She looks stable, and it is possible to continue. They check her vitals while the med team continues the surgery. When they finish, they extubate her. An exciting surgery clip with resus, CPR, defibrillations, black rubber mask, intubation.
