Vanessa is in her hospital room after being transferred from the casting room following a car accident. She has broken her tibia, femur and humerus, that's why she wearing a hip-spica cast and a shoulder-spica cast. She has an O2 mask, ECG, BP cuff on. The nurses check her BP again and set up the monitors. When the nurses leave the room for a break Vanessa is alone, and suddenly her heart start beating irregularly. Soon her heart goes into VFib. When nurses return they think an electrodes have been removed but when they check her pulse they realize its her pulse that's gone! They start CPR ...

The nurses check her BP again and set up the monitors. When the nurses leave the room for a break Vanessa is alone, and suddenly her heart start beating irregularly. Soon her heart goes into VFib. When nurses return they think an electrodes have been removed but when they check her pulse they realize its her pulse that's gone! They start CPR immediately but can't manage it it because of the shoulder-spica cast! It must be removed immediately. The nurse Nicky breaks out the cast saw and cuts through the cast next to Vanessa's sternum. They start CPR with heavy chest compressions immediately! The other nurse starts ambu bagging and charges the defibrillator. Following the first shock, they intubate the young patient and continue resus. Some minutes later they realize the upper part of hip-spica cast also impedes the CPR procedure so the head nurse cuts that part off too. Now Vanessa's belly is exposed, and they can work unimpeded. Her pulse returns to normal. But all of her cast has now been cut through. After this ordeal she must go back to the cast room to repair the casts, and maybe reset what's underneath as well. Deep and strong chest compressions. Many different defibs on the patient. A must see clip!
