Edwardian gentleman and bachelor, Arthur Penford, has a limited sense of humour. When his Gentleman's Maid makes an apple pie bed for him, he is furious. It is for just such a contingency that he keeps a spanking bench in his cellar. He drags Maria, his maid, down to the cellar, where her yelps will not be heard.
