Martial law has been declared in the US due to the outbreak of a very and very contagious airborne strain of influenza. The local emergency sirens start screaming in the middle of the night while Elana is napping she stumbles out of her room coughing and gasping for breath and into the hallway coughing from either the new and strain of influenza or some kind of gas that has been released into her area in an attempt to the disease.
